Lynne Yadlin, OCPA co-president, called the OCPA Board meeting to order at 7:15 p.m. at Mark and Lori McIlroy’s home at 2039 Republic Avenue in Costa Mesa, CA.

In attendance: Lynne Yadlin, Yoram Yadlin, Mark McIlroy, Lori McIlroy, Dennis Osborne, Maureen Osborne, Barbara Bottorff, Margo Lesser, Pete Strand, Roxie Strand, Dorothy Flynn, Kelsey Lovelady, Kathy Hutchins, Larry Buster, Vic Wadsley, Connie Wadsley, Major Tim Shields, Anette Rihovsky, George Rihovsky, Miles McKeever

All attendees introduced themselves.

USAFA OCPA Website

Miles McKeever, Webmaster, presented history and discussion regarding the future of the website, including updating the website, using the website to build membership, using communication to help Board members accomplish their goals, and using options such as live postings, posting photos, calendar and links to directions for events and meetings. The fee has been paid for the website for the 2007-2008 year. Consensus of the Board was to have all material for the Website reviewed and approved by the president before posting. As Miles’s son, Ty, is a firstie, the board will actively recruit for a member to be a backup to Miles and eventually succeed as Webmaster.

Appointee Brunch Review

Consensus of Board the Appointee Brunch was a great success!

Lynne thanked Debbie Ortiz, Social Chair, for all her hard work in organizing the event. Lynn also thanked Dennis, Barbara and Margo for their work in manning the sign-in table and sign-up for the Packing Party events. Discussion regarding identified issues and suggestions included: expand preppie information in the program, increase timeliness of RSVP by charging increasing amounts for brunch based on deadlines, explore other locations to decrease cost of event, explore contract with venue to decrease or stabilize cost of event, redesign form for clarification, name tags very helpful but need early RSVP to prepare.

Minutes

Kathy Hutchins moved to accept the minutes as presented from the May 22, 2007 Board meeting. The motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

Membership

Current count is 25 cadets for class of 2011 and 8 preppies. Currently 14 cadet families from the 2011 class and 1 preppie family have joined. Consensus of Board is to reapproach families who have not joined after Inprocessing.

Discussion regarding recruiting families of upper level classes. No one has been able to locate records of membership from 2006-2007. Lynne and Yoram appointed a subcommittee of the class representatives to serve as the membership committee to recruit families who are not currently members. Kelsey Lovelady was appointed chairperson of the committee.

Margo Lesser moved to offer an Alumni membership of three years for $25. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Summer Events

Doolie Day Out Information Night on July 10 at the Ortiz home

Board to provide potluck for attendees.

Packing Party on July 28 at the True home

Margo reported 12 families have signed up.

Parents Weekend Picnic on August 19

Lori has reserved Shiffer Park in Costa Mesa. Attendees will bring their own food.

Group Football tickets for Parents Weekend

Lori reported that the group sale opened on Sunday and that the tickets are selling quickly.

Board Positions

Lynne reported several new members have expressed interest in volunteering. The Newsletter Editor and Prep School Representative positions are open. A new Membership Chair Board position was also suggested for next year. Another position, Sunshine Chair, was also suggested to send birthday and graduation cards to cadets. Lynne will contact the new volunteers.

Budget

Barbara presented a sample budget for discussion. Dennis will provide approximate numbers based on what records he has for the next meeting.

Dennis reported as of May 31^st the USAFA OCPA account had $2283.00.

Roxie Strand moved to purchase discounted Air Force flags at an amount not to exceed $250 to be sold as fundraiser. The motion was seconded and moved by voice vote.

The Board will next meet July 28 at 2:45 p.m. prior to the Packing Party at the True home.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
